Architecture Director of an owner and developer of Continuing Care Retirement Communities

Erickson Living is currently one of the largest senior housing developers and managers  in the United States and ideally positioned for continued growth with almost 2 billion to spend in new construction over the next five years.  We are expanding and developing in all of our 20 communities which will reinforce our position as a national leader in senior housing and health care services.

This growth requires a strong pipeline of talented and experienced professionals in critical development and acquisition roles. We are currently recruiting for an Architecture Director will be responsible for guiding architectural design process for new construction and community planning. Provide consultation on unit design, unit mixes, community space programming and design, continuing care design as well as ancillary buildings. Work with development team to establish and promote EL Design Guidelines across the projects. Work with development teams and corporate and community partners to respond to market trends and keep the building program current.

Architecture Director Duties and Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop building programs in accordance with the established Master Plan and operational models.

  • Work with the development projects team to develop and/or update Long Range Plans (LRP), Life Cycle and Renovation Plans (LCRP) and Repositioning plans for the existing communities.

  • Establish unit types and community space for residential and continuing care buildings in accordance with specific community requirements.

  • Provide feedback to the design teams regarding alternate design options or modifications required to maintain the Erickson brand and/or individual community requirements.

  • Keep the building program current with market and industry trends and updated operational models.

  • Work with Development team to establish and maintain best practices and guidelines for new construction, life-cycle and repositioning projects.

  • Provide project guidance, including meeting attendance, drawing and specification review as required, to ensure conformance to Erickson brand for all projects as assigned

  • Periodically, attend construction progress meetings, site visits and mock-up unit reviews to assist development teams with maintaining design conformance.

  • Bachelors’ degree in Architecture required.

  • A minimum of 10 - 15 years experience in architectural programming and design, consultant coordination and construction administration.

  • Senior housing experience preferred
