SUMMARY: The Program Assistant I will assist with the stimulation of the physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, and emotional well-being of the residents residing in Continuing Care.Providing assistance to recreational activities to meet the daily needs and interests of the residents.

Person Centered Care Summary:

The Continuing Care team is committed to serving residents in all aspects of their daily lives and assisting with the day to day functioning of the neighborhood.  Members of the Continuing Care team will develop relationships with the residents and their families using a consistent caregiver approach; supporting the residents’ physical, spiritual, emotional and clinical needs and focusing on placing the residents first. 

Through daily interactions, the Continuing Care team develops firsthand knowledge about the residents’ values, needs, preferences, and life history.  Members of the Continuing Care team provide hospitable care and services to the residents, treating them as individuals with strengths and gifts and actively listening to their voice in what care and services we provide.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.Independently facilitates various structured and impromptu programs to individuals and groups in common areas and resident rooms.

2.Escorts and ensures the safety of residents on group trips and excursions.

3.Works collaboratively with other team members, management, volunteers, and families to deliver programs and activities designed to enhance the resident experience.

4.Reports observed changes in resident’s needs, abilities, and preferences to their immediate supervisor so that appropriate programs and activities are provided for individual and group audiences.

5.Suggests items for the program supply lists and utilizes equipment safely.

6.Participates in team discussions regarding resident programming, monthly calendars, and resident issues.

7.Performs other duties as assigned.

·Independent thinker, self-motivated, organized, flexible and dependable

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

·Some experience working with groups of people with varying levels of physical and cognitive independence is preferred. Experience with the elderly is a plus.

  • Flexible work schedule including weekends and evenings as appropriate is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Strong oral and written communication skills.
