SUMMARY:
Assists with all aspects of catering/event coordination, including setup, execution and breakdown.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
  1. Communicates appropriately with all food service staff/supervisor and listens effectively.
  2. Coordinates the overall efficiency of catered operations.
  3. Coordinates functions within budgetary perimeters.
  4. Ensures that all services and programs are in compliance with federal, state and/or local laws and statutes.
  5. Assists with planning, coordinating and booking all functions and events at the Community.
  6. Ensures the cleanliness and sanitation of dining rooms, kitchens, storage areas, loading docks and elevators.
  7. Ensures proper portioning of foods and attractive plate presentation by servers.
  8. Ensures the proper opening and closing of food service operations.
  9. Shows professional knowledge, proficiency and initiative in achieving goals and meeting standards.
  10. Works with potential catering customers to quote pricing of catering packages.
  11. Supports all campus dining operations as needed.
  12. Works safely, consistently using designated safety equipment (personal protective equipment).
  13. Uses Catering software to properly coordinate and plan events.

  • Ability to perform all clerical duties as directed.
  • Knowledge and proficiency of computers and willingness to further educate oneself.
  • Flexibility, motivation and adeptness to manage a one-person office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and functions at the same time.
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office suite. 
  • A working knowledge of My Events program to book and settle catering events.
     
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED required; college courses in restaurant management or business management preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Rest. Mgmt., Dietetics or Inst. Mgmt. is preferred and may be substituted for up to 1 year experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ restaurant/ food service management experience, including catering experience.
     
    LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in the English language.
     
    LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • ServSafe Certification obtained within 6 months of employment.
