The Laundry Aide is responsible for carrying out the normal laundry activity procedures in a safe and efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Follows safety and sanitary conditions in the laundry area according to established policies, procedures and health regulations.
  2. Keeps soiled laundry separate from clean laundry.
  3. Keeps all laundry off the laundry room floor.
  4. Informs Lead/Supervisor of the need for additional chemicals, or supplies used in the laundry.
  5. Informs Lead/Supervisor immediately of any repairs needed for broken and defective laundry equipment.
  6. Removes lint on an as needed basis, checking lint drawers approximately every two hours. Using vacuum in lint drawer areas every other day.
  7. Don proper attire, sorts soiled laundry, washes, dries, folds linens, residents and restaurants linens (Mandatory)
  8. Checks personal cloths making sure each item is properly identified (including the ironing of independent personals)
  9. Launders Food Service linens and residential linens following bagging techniques and laundry formulas.
  10. Reports any lost, damaged or unclaimed clothing items to Lead/Supervisor.
  11. Delivers all linens and residents clothing to the appropriate floors and residents rooms (including the delivery of independent items).
  12. Maintains daily record keeping.
  13. Works independently without close supervision or help.
  14. Accomplishes all tasks in order of priority
  15. Participates in all drills and mandatory inservice meetings.
  16. Fills in for other housekeeping duties as necessary.
  17. All other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by administration.

A wide variety of duties and responsibilities involves general knowledge of laundry systems critical to safety and welfare. Probable errors could cause service delays, resident discomfort and expenses to the facility, therefore, this position must work safely and accurately. Flow of work requires normal mental and visual demands.


Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions. Previous experience in laundry services desirable.

Must be able to walk long distances and stand for long periods of time. Ability to push, pull or lift a minimum of 25 pounds and a maximum of 50 pounds with assistance, such as carts, laundry bags and linens. Strenuous pulling while unloading washers, dryers, repetitive motions. Mandatory wearing of safety belt.
